Join the Fight to End Cancer

We all know someone whose life has been touched by cancer. There’s a way for you to support them in their fight. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has a representative on the track at all times during the 24-hour event. Our fundraising team is forming now and and our event, the Relay for Life of Greater Rochester, will take place at Hart Middle School on June 23 and June 24 from 9:00 am to 9:00 am. Please join us in the fight against cancer. You don’t have to be a Jaycee to join our team so invite your friends and family to participate. Register with our team online at http://rajc.org/rfl.

Safety Town Setup

For 34 years, the Rochester Area Jaycees have helped teach 4, 5, and 6-year-olds to develop an understanding of safety in their environment as well as a healthy awareness of danger by navigating the streets of Safety Town, a miniature town complete with buildings, cars, bikes, traffic lights, and signs. Enrollment is currently underway through the Rochester Community Schools Enrichment office. Call (248) 726-3165 or visit http://rochester.augusoft.net and click the “Enrichment for All” button.

We will be setting up Safety Town at Delta Kelly Elementary School on Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 am and need volunteer manpower to construct the little city. Click the link below to get involved.

Dear Soldier

Dear Soldier is a project held at The Festival of the Hills. The annual Festival of the Hills fireworks show at Borden Park takes place on Wednesday, June 27th. This event has become a huge tradition in our community. The Rochester Area Jaycees contribute to the tradition in a patriotic way by hosting a “thank-you station” — a tent where festival-goers can fill out thank you cards to the troops. The Jaycees plan to bring Dear Soldier back once again to Festival of the Hills. This year’s event begins at 6:00 pm with family games and live entertainment. The Dear Soldier tent will be open from 4:00 pm until dusk. The fireworks show begins at 10:06 pm.
