The city of Rochester Hills is hosting a Parliamentary Procedure Training Workshop. A profession parliamentarian will be coming to Rochester Hills City Hall to train the city’s councillors, commissioners, and board members in the intracacies of Robert’s Rules. The Rochester Area Jaycees have been invited to observe the workshop on Monday, March 5 at 6:00 PM. To allow all members to attend if they choose, the March Board meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 6th. The Inter-Service Club Banquet is an annual event where all the service clubs in the area come together and learn about all the good things everyone is doing in the community. This year, the Rochester Area Jaycees are tasked with organizing the event. The planning committee has decided to hold a raffle or silent auction at the event to raise money for charity. We are currently seeking donations for prizes. If you or your business would like to donate an item, please contact Paul Jackson.
Our monthly Jaycees Info Night will take place on Thursday, March 1 at 7 pm at the Starbuck’s on Walton and Squirrel. We will be meeting with prospective Jaycees to tell them more about the organization. Coffee will be provided.
The Michigan Jaycees will be hosting an outing to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game! A Michigan Jaycees group outing will see the Wings take on the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, February 25th. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. Discounted tickets are available for only $42 each. This is an $8 per ticket discount over the box office rate. But only a limited number are tickets are available. The Rochester Area Jaycees will be holding our Monthly Social to coincide with the annual Fire and Ice Festival in Downtown Rochester. Each year, the festival brings ice sculptures, fireworks, and an opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere that our downtown has to offer.
We will be at Shehrzad Mediterranean Grill on the corner of Second and Main from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The chapter will provide Hors d’oeuvres, bar is no-host. Fireworks start at 8:00 pm. Dessert will be S’mores at the Lions’ warming tent on Third St. RSVP’s not required but are appreciated.
The Community Outlook Luncheon is an annual event produced by the Rochester Regional Chamber where civic leaders can network and hear about the economic outlook of our community. Scheduled to speak are City of Rochester Mayor Stuart Bikson, Rochester Area Jaycee and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett, and Oakland Township Supervisor Jim Creech. The event is February 22 from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. Tickets are $35 and reservations are due by February 10. Please contact Julia Webber if you’re interested in attending with the Jaycees.
The Michigan Jaycees Winter Assembly will be a weekend full of training, networking, recognition, and fun, as we celebrate the success we’ve enjoyed on our journey towards Happily Ever After in 2011 and fully embrace what it means to Write Our Future in 2012. The Winter Assembly takes place in Bay City this weekend February 10-12. Our chapter will be attending and is nominated for two awards at this assembly.
