Model Legislature is a one-day government/civic program organized and facilitated by the Michigan Jaycees. It will take place this year on Saturday, November 3rd from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM in Lansing at the State Capitol. Regular registration ends on Oct 19th – the price goes up after that.
Real bills currently pending in the Michigan Legislature are selected and debated by current Michigan Jaycee members and guests. During Model Legislature, participants will be divided into two political parties. Participants will be able to debate bills, make amendments, participate in caucus/committee meetings, and learn how bills become laws, all during a “mock” session of the House of Representatives.
Please let a board member know if you are interested in participating in this event. We have budgeted money to cover some of the registration cost this year.
