This area focuses on the line of the Jaycee creed, “Earth’s great treasure lies in human personality.” It provides an opportunity for individual members to achieve their personal potential through training programs. It is important to note that each activity in the Jaycees offers an opportunity to develop potential and skills of individual members. Training opportunities not covered in other area would be included in the Individual Area of Opportunity.
Personal Development Commission: This commission involves projects that improve the quality of life for the membership. Projects provide education that benefits a member’s personal and professional life. These might be financial planning, retirement, time management, or hobbies.
Professional Development Commission: Projects in this commission are focused on developing members as leaders in their chapters and professions.
Funeral House Tour - One of our members worked for a local funeral home and gave us a tour along with great information on what to expect when a loved one dies.
Resume Writing - We've had classes on how to write a good resume
Beer Making - One of our members brews his own beer and taught us how to do it ourselves.
Financial Planning - We've done various projects using the resources of our members to teach us about proper financial planning and management.
Speak Up! & Write Up! - The Jaycees offer many opportunities to practice your speaking and writing skills through participating in activities and projects or actually competing in these areas at different levels from local to state and even national.
